Protecting the Seat of the Presidency

Drawn from the ranks of the Zambia Police Service, the officers of the State House division carry one of the most solemn responsibilities in the Republic — safeguarding the Presidency, its people and its places, every hour of every day.

The Office of the President

Close protection of the President and the First Family — at State House, on the move within Zambia and on official travel abroad.

State House & Designated Facilities

Perimeter security, access control and the guarding of State House and other government facilities designated for protection.

VIPs & Visiting Dignitaries

1935

Government House Established

The original residence is completed in Lusaka, and with it the first permanent police guard at the seat of the territorial administration.

24 October 1964

Independence — A National Duty Begins

At independence the Zambia Police Service assumes responsibility for protecting State House and the first President of the Republic of Zambia.

1991

Serving a Multi-Party Democracy

The unit safeguards Zambia’s peaceful transition to multi-party democracy — protecting the office, whoever holds it, without fear or favour.
